The National Gambling Helpline, which is operated by GamCare, received renewed accreditation as a certified advice organisation that provides public health assistance from the Helplines Partnership in late 2018. This re-accreditation procedure has taken three years to process and is confirmation that the GamCare service adheres to the code of practice that is set out by the Helplines Partnership. The code ensures the highest standards at all times and guarantees that rigorous client processes and procedures are in place.

About GamCare And The Helplines Partnership

The Helplines Partnership reviews UK programmes and organisations offering helpline services and monitors consumer interactions and engagement, alongside the advice given and whether it is relevant and meets needs. The assessment process does not just monitor public engagement, it also takes account of wider communities and the health stakeholders in the UK.

Anna Hemmings is the CEO at GamCare and commented: “We are delighted to renew this accreditation. The Helplines Standard demonstrates that our organisation offers best in class support for callers across all our channels, and evidence that we are committed to continuous improvement for our beneficiaries.

The National Gambling Helpline offered by GamCare is available on a freephone number (0808 8020 133) and can also be accessed via live web chat. Information, support and advice are available to any individual suffering the effects of problem gambling or addiction. The advisers are on hand from 8am through to midnight, seven days a week.

A spokesperson from the Helplines Partnership said: “The National Gambling Helpline is a long-running, well-established and good quality service, however, there is also a clear commitment to continuous development to meet emerging needs. The safety of those with whom it comes into contact is treated as an intrinsic part of the helplineā€™s work, and there is evidence of a strong commitment to effective partnerships to ensure callers get the best care. The Helplines Partnership congratulates those involved with the submission process for producing a comprehensive evidence portfolio.

If you’re affected by problem gambling or know somebody that is, the help and advice from GamCare is totally free of charge. GambleAware is another service offering free treatment to problem gamblers.
