NetEnt Bringing the Action With Street Fighter II
The original Street Fighter II game was subtitled The World Warrior, and it included eight key characters. Those characters star in the upcoming online slot from Net Entertainment based on the same title as Street Fighter II: The World Warrior Slot.
Players will be able to get in on the action and see who can come out on top with a slot based on a video game that made its debut all the way back in 1991.
As one of the most important video games in history, this is the perfect pick for Net Entertainment because of their history of putting together extremely strong slots based on already established brands while staying true to the source material.
What to Expect in This Slot
We know that the original eight characters will be shown in the game, and that includes Ryu, Honda, Chun-Li, Zangief, Ken, Guile, Blanka and Dhalsim. However, the four boss characters that were added in the Turbo version of the game will also make appearances, and that includes Balrog, Sagat (the chief antagonist from the original Street Fighter game), Vega and the ultimate antagonist trying to take over the world, M. Bison.
The graphics and gameplay appear to be true to the original with slight updates to account for the fact that almost three decades have passed since this title was originally released. That shouldn’t be a problem, however, because the characters and their portrayals are iconic in the industry and will still take in a tremendous amount of attention.
Why This is Such Big News
There are a few pieces of information that make this such a big deal, and here they are in no particular order:
- The fact that Capcom, the makers of the Street fighter franchise, is licensing out their brands for making online slots is really big news on its own and could open the way to other slots based on their titles.
- The Street Fighter II series of games is one of the most important and most iconic series in the history of the industry.
- It shows that Net Entertainment is continuing to really push to get licensing deals that other providers aren’t getting, which brings up the quality of games in the slots world as a whole.
While there are other things that are notable about this licensing agreement, the above shows the highlights.
Net Entertainment in 2020
We’ve previously predicted that 2020 would be another year where NetEnt figured out ways to innovate and push the envelope to get even more of an edge against their competition in the online slots industry. This announcement of the Street Fighter II: The World Warrior slot, which is set to be released on May 21, 2020, shows that they are really pushing ahead on their release schedule and being aggressive with licensing deals in the new year.
We’re also interested to see if this leads to any other games in the future that are based on titles from Capcom. Capcom is one of the most prolific video game companies in history, and their collection of titles includes some of the biggest names ever.
Net Entertainment has a history of setting up licensing deals in terms of “batches” of games that are released over time as part of a series, and while there’s been no announcement about that so far, we won’t be surprised if that’s what comes of this.
Overall, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens, and we’re obviously waiting for the release in May of this title.
