This huge amount of winnings actually came from a combination of four different jackpot triggers. The first happened on April 20, 2021 at WinStar World Casino and Resort in Oklahoma. The game in question was Wheel of Fortune, one of IGT’s hallmark progressive titles. A lucky player was able to pull $1,914,302 on this title.
Less than a week later on April 26, an eight-figure payout was taken down in Las Vegas. More specifically, this happened at South Point Hotel Casino and Spa, one of the most famous casinos in Nevada. The win was for a staggering $10,453,269, and it came on the Megabucks Triple Double Stars Wheel. Since the Megabucks series is famous both online and offline, this is an important win for online players as well.
The very next day on April 27, two different major wins happened. The first was again in Las Vegas at The Venetian. On the Wheel of Fortune Double Times Pay slot, a lucky fan was able to hit a progressive worth $2,946,337. That’s an instant millionaire being made on a single pull of a slot machine.
However, also on April 27, an online player hit it big. This payout happened for a lucky player from Ontario, Canada. It came on the Powerbucks slot online, and it was worth $1,334,516 in Canadian dollars.
Online and Land-based Wins
There used to be a really big wall between what was considered online and offline wins. That wall or line or whatever you want to call it has become less severe over time. A big part of the reason for this is that companies primarily known now for their online efforts also have games in land-based venues.
As a result, most people think of slot progressive wins overall as a whole now. That’s opposed to the old way of thinking where online jackpots and brick and mortar jackpots weren’t grouped together. We think that this approach is better for players and the industry, and here’s why.
