The mobile sector of the online casino industry gets bigger and bigger each year. With this growth comes the need for interface changes and adjustments over time. Playson has shown they’re keeping up with the times with a complete overhaul of their mobile interface and software.

Big Mobile Changes for Playson

Something that a lot of us take for granted is the ability to play online casino games via mobile. While they’re everywhere now, mobile casino games weren’t really that viable even as recently as 10 to 15 years ago.

As their popularity has skyrocketed, big changes have happened over time to how we play.

So much of the emphasis on the mobile software goes to the games themselves. However, not as much thought is put into how the interfaces and menus work by players. This is the kind of thing that software providers have to be concerned with, and we see that in a major way from Playson’s most recent big announcement.

They have completely revamped how their mobile interface works. This isn’t just an ordinary software update that you see all the time from various companies. Instead, they have completely changed how they approach mobile and have shown once again why they are trend setters.

The Nature of These Changes

The first thing to consider is that the online casino industry is based on a landscape viewing mode. That is, the width of the play area is larger than the height. The reason for this is simple: Television screens and computer monitors are oriented this way. Since these games are based on getting as much screen real estate as possible, a landscape approach became the standard.

What the new Playson rework does is that it flips this idea on its head. With mobile taking up such a significant share of the market, the landscape approach needs to be reconsidered. The reason for this is that it can be difficult to play with a single hand on mobile via landscape. These devices are typically made to be handled with a single hand in a portrait orientation.

As a result, Playson’s interface changes center around using mobile devices upright in a portrait configuration. It’s a very smart thing to do, and it makes a lot of sense in terms of making things easier for players. Whether this is going to catch on in the industry as a whole, however, is still up in the air.

Seamless Play Tool

Along with this mobile change comes another software change from Playson. This comes in the form of their Seamless Play Tool. The idea here is that players will get the ability to seamlessly move their play from one device to the other. For most players, this will be from a computer to a mobile device (or vice versa).

This type of seamless approach makes it much easier for players to switch to being on the go. The idea is that they don’t want to inconvenience players if they don’t have to. That’s a good approach, and it’s the kind of thing that has been behind a lot of innovations in the industry as a whole.

What’s Next for Playson?

With this interface rework, we’re seeing that they’re obviously focused on mobile. That won’t really be news to much of anyone because that’s the case for most software providers. At least that’s the case for the ones that are doing well, and Playson is doing great.

We expect to see more of the same from Playson. That includes new releases that come out on a regular schedule. However, that also includes regular expansion into new markets and partnerships with new providers. They have been very aggressive and consistent about this for years, and there’s no reason to expect that to change.

However, we also expect to see some surprises from them. That may seem like an oxymoron, but history has shown that they always have something up their sleeve. This mobile software rework is a good example of that.
