Svenska Spel and Playtech have agreed to a deal that will see the latter’s games being offered for the first time inside of the regulated Swedish market. This includes everything from their collection of online slots to their live dealer game portfolio to give players a truly great selection to pick from.
Svenska Spel to Distribute Playtech Titles
With the segmented reality of how regulated jurisdictions work for online casinos in the current state of things, a major software provider getting an initial foothold in a jurisdiction is a pretty important thing. That’s why it’s such a big deal that Playtech has made a new agreement with Svenska Spel.
This will allow them to have their games offered to players within the regulated Swedish market.
Getting access to such a serious group of players is a big deal, but it also paves the way for them to have more sway in other regulated markets because Sweden is really strict about who they allow “under the tent,” so to speak.
For Playtech to be allowed to have their games offered under that banner shows that they are serious about regulatory compliance and that they can be trusted to handle player safety and information security on a high level.
What’s Included in This Agreement
These games are going to be available at Svenska Spel Sport & Casino to begin with. They are the top operator in the regulated market of Sweden, and that means that Playtech will be starting off as best they possibly could there.
This deal will not see their full selection of video slots available. However, it will include most of their most popular modern titles. That includes several games from their Age of the Gods progressive jackpot series that took over the four-tier Marvel Jackpots system when the licensing agreement ran out.
On top of that, live game launches will also be included in this agreement, and that means that Playtech will get yet another market where they can get these games in front of fresh faces. Their live dealer offering has been something they’ve worked on in particular in the past couple of years, and while they have a great product, they’ve had difficulty dealing with major competition from industry leaders in that space like Evolution Gaming and NetEnt.
More Games Coming in the Future
There are more games coming in the future as a part of this agreement, but we’ll have to wait and see what will actually be available when the time comes. There seems to be a lot of flexibility when it comes to actually knowing which will and will not be allowed in, and they may not even know fully at this point in the agreement based on whatever regulatory factors are in play.
What to Expect Next
Playtech has a long-term strategy, like many other software providers and platform operators, that involves getting a foothold in as many regulated jurisdictions as possible. This is the current state of the industry in terms of how things have to be in order to get in front of the most players.
Along these lines, we expect them to do two things from here. First, we expect Playtech to really push to solidify their position in the Swedish market, and that could include getting in with other operators. It’ll also include building momentum with their live dealer options in that particular market.
Second, they’ll continue pushing to get into other regulated markets along the same lines. When players have access to more games at more casinos, it’s a win-win-win situation. The casinos win because they have a better portfolio, Playtech wins because they get more players and the players win because they get more access to high-quality games. This last point is especially important since it’s the entire point of people getting in on the action in the first place.
