The online sportsbook and DFS giant, DraftKings, recently became a publicly-traded company and is now looking to make additions to its online casino portfolio.

The betting company has requested an Interactive Gaming Operator License from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board in order to add to its already substantial online portfolio.

The company already has a New Jersey-based online casino that launched in 2018 as part of its online sportsbook app.

The Pennsylvania Gambling Market

Pennsylvania law requires online gambling products to be partnered with a land-based casino with a licence for online gaming.

DraftKings’ partner is likely to be Penn National, as it currently owns the Hollywood Casino at the Penn National racecourse which is in possession of an online casino licence.

What To Expect From DraftKings’ New Casino

Pennsylvanian gamblers can expect strong brand recognition from DraftKings’ new online casino, along with generous promotions and a high-quality product.

If the new casino is anything like the existing New Jersey version, it will have a wide variety of online slots as well as table games, video poker and live dealer games, including roulette and blackjack.

Market Competition

DraftKings may not be as successful in the sportsbook market as its competitor, FanDuel, but its recent increase in revenue looks promising.

The market competition in Pennsylvania online casinos is on the rise, however, with BetAmerica, Caesars Casino and BetRivers all joining the Pennsylvania online gaming market.

DraftKings’ sportsbook-iGaming offering should give it an opportunity to stand out and Pennsylvania punters will have a great range of options to choose from.

DraftKings is also set to apply for a licence to run as a Sports Wagering Operator so that they can continue to operate their sportsbook for the next five years.
