An Introduction to the Cash Express Slot

A variety of different games from different software providers have been made about the wild west. Where Stakelogic’s Cash Express video slot stands out compared to games like Wanted Wildz is two-fold.

Cash Express Main Screen
Cash Express Main Screen

First, it doesn’t take itself too seriously like some of the other games in the sub-genre can. Additionally, it offers a different style of bonus feature than you’ll find anywhere else.

The view you have of this game is centered squarely on the side of a railway car. The reels and the rest of the interface are seen on and around this car as it sits squarely on the tracks. Additionally, a sunset is happening in the background across some mesas. This gives the whole game a sort of warm glow that looks and feels great. However, what’s going down on the reels is a bit of a different story. A variety of bandits and other characters are drawn in a fun style and are waiting to knock off the train.

This brings us to the tie-ins with the features and play style. Each of these characters actually has an important role to play in the main bonus feature. Additionally, they help you to get some of the best pays in the game on the regular pay table. This creates a good mix between the regular and bonus modes while tying both of them into the theme and visual appeal. Stakelogic is exceptional at tying all of the parts of a slot together to create one cohesive experience.

Betting and Layout

You won’t need to learn anything new or complicated to jump right in and start playing. The format used here has been used a lot, and it’s a super solid foundation for the feature set. We like this kind of arrangement where you don’t have to learn a lot of new game mechanics just to understand what’s going on in a game. Here’s what to expect:

  • The grid layout is as straightforward as can be for a video slot. You get five vertical reels and three horizontal rows of symbols to play with.
  • A set of 25 static paylines are used on this grid. By static, we mean that you can’t change how many are active.
  • Additionally, Stakelogic only has wins going from left to right on the paylines for this game.
  • In the bottom-right corner, the Super Stake side bet is available that increases your bet size for better chances at the feature. We’ll dive more into how this works below.
  • The lowest available bet size is €0.25 per turn, and you can wager up to €12.50 per spin as well. However, these are base wagers that do not account for the Super Stake bet size increase.
  • With that increase activated, you can bet from €0.35 to €17.50 per turn.

Other Information

You’ll always want to have the side bet activated, which slightly increases the volatility. However, it also increases your RTP percentage, which is why you want it on. With this, your volatility ends up being in the medium-high range. It won’t seem overwhelming for most players. That aside, it will still be above the average for the industry. That’s something to keep in mind if you’re particularly sensitive to higher volatility levels than usual.

Payouts for this game are multiplied by your base wager. With the side bet activated, you’ll pay a higher price per spin. However, wins are not multiplied by this increased price. Instead, they’re multiplied by the amount paid before the side bet is activated. On the pay table in the game, the actual currency amounts are listed for convenience. Those will change as you switch through bet sizes. With that said, we’ll talk about them as a multiple of the base bet in the following.

Gameplay and Features for the Cash Express Video Slot

Some wild west slots like Deadly 5 try to pack a ton of smaller features into one package. However, Stakelogic did a bit of the opposite with the Cash Express online slot. Instead, everything is about a couple of individual features that bring a solid value. Some players will prefer this approach because it makes it easier to keep up with everything that can go on. You don’t have to remember a half dozen mechanics or more in this one to avoid feeling confused.

Wild Sheriff’s Badge Symbols

This game has two special symbols that you need to know when you start playing. One of them is the train, which we’ll jump into below. The other is the wild sheriff’s badge. This badge is gold with green trim. Additionally, it can appear in any of the 15 positions on the game board. As such, Stakelogic set it up to offer payouts for combinations of wilds on its own as well. The following wins are for payline combinations consisting only of wild symbols:

  • Five of a Kind – 20x
  • Four of a Kind – 10x
  • Three of a Kind – 1x

Keep in mind that these wilds do not substitute for the train symbols. With that said, they will substitute for everything else this game has to offer. This makes the wilds particularly valuable for substitution-based wins that increase your hit-rate.

One situation that can happen with wilds in this game is that one can be at the intersection of two (or more) wins for different kinds of symbols. In this case, the wild will substitute for multiple symbols simultaneously. Stakelogic set this game up so that you never miss out on potential payline wins in this way.

Cash Bonus Feature

The train symbol, much like the wild, can land on any position of any reel. More than one can also show up on each reel at a time. Along these lines, any six trains on the game board activates the Cash Bonus Feature.

However, while you’re waiting for the feature to trigger, the trains are still helpful. Every one of them that lands is collected in a meter to unlock the Cash Bonus Enhancers.

Cash Bonus Enhancers

Each of the four enhancers are locked when you start playing. However, each time you unlock one, you get to progress to another stage of the game. Each of them adds a special addition to the bonus round once it’s triggered:

  • Woman in Blue (1st Enhancer) – Multiplier between 2x and 30x
  • Man in Green (2nd Enhancer) – Multiplier between 2x and 50x, other multipliers increased
  • Man in Yellow (3rd Enhancer) – Multiplier between 2x and 50x, adds another row to the grid
  • Leader in Red (4th Enhancer) – Multiplier between 2x and 100x, all other multipliers are collected

These add to the values you can earn from the bonus feature.

How the Feature Works

When this feature is activated, you start with a clear game board and three spins. Train symbols and unlocked bonus enhancers can land on the game board. When they land, they will all drop downward to the bottom of the grid as far as possible. However, once you line up five symbols across the bottom row, the total multipliers shown are all added together and awarded. These are multiplied by your total bet size to determine your win.

From there, the winning symbols disappear, and everything drops down one position. The idea is that the different enhancers add more opportunities to get wins that you wouldn’t have otherwise. They increase your payouts as well.

Super Stake Side Bet

The Super Stake increases your bet size by 40 percent. At the same time, it also increases your chances to get train symbols to trigger the feature. Additionally, bigger wins are more likely with this side bet activated.

We strongly suggest keeping this activated at all times for the maximum payout rate.

How to Win at Cash Express

With the Super Stake side bet activated, we place the volatility of this game in the medium-high range. As such, some players may want to drop their bet size down some to compensate. A decrease in the range of 33 to 40 percent is probably good for most players. However, you don’t have to make this adjustment. Players who don’t care so much about volatility in particular may not care to make it.

You also have the option to buy the bonus feature whenever you want. For a cost of 100 times your wager, you’ll enter the Cash Bonus Feature immediately on the following spin. However, this definitely creates a scenario with a very high volatility. Subsequently, we have to strongly recommend lowering your bet size quite a bit to compensate.

Payout Structure for the Cash Express Online Slot

Something we like about this game is that Stakelogic made the pay table pretty easy to follow. We saw something similar in the Down the Rails slot as well, which has a train-based motif too.

None the less, the four symbols that make up the bonus enhancers are also the top-paying symbols overall. For the man in red with the black hat, he gets you 20x wins for five of a kind combinations. Additionally, the yellow or green men earn you 16x or 12x, respectively. Rounding off the character symbols is the woman in blue, who pays 8x for five on a line.

The four card rank symbols look cool with a wooden finish in different colors and a western-style font. However, they all also give you the same 2x win when you line up five of a kind combinations.

Overview

Stakelogic’s work on the bonus round of the Cash Express slot is where a lot of focus goes in this game. It combines elements of a few different styles of features all into one package. That’s a cool type of innovation we like to see, especially when it ties into the theme of a game so well. Additionally, the look and feel is a bit more open than most Wild West slots, which makes the experience a bit more fresh and different than what we usually see with them.
