An Introduction to Live Soiree Blackjack

There are a lot of live dealer blackjack options out there these days. A lot of providers try to get as many players as they can into their tables. However, Playtech has done something a bit different with their Live Soiree Blackjack tables.

These are exclusive tables with high betting limits and options you don’t normally get at lower level tables.

From a presentation standpoint, these are some of the best live blackjack tables you can find anywhere. Playtech definitely wanted these to feel different than anywhere else players had enjoyed blackjack live. It clearly worked, and once you play at these tables, you may have a hard time settling for less.

In terms of gameplay, there is a solid rule set and some fun side bets. The customization options for the experience paired with the exclusive feel make this game very entertaining. It’s one of those types of games where you have to really watch the play unfold to completely understand. However, it looks amazing at a glance as well.

Betting Limits and Exclusivity

We want to point out something right away that pretty much all players will want to know. The betting limits on these tables are higher than what you find in most other places. For example, the minimum bet size is €50 per hand. That’s higher than the maximum for some games we’ve seen on a regular basis.

However, you also have a maximum bet size of €10,000 per hand. That’s a pretty high top limit, which makes it perfect for high roller players. In fact, we think this may be the best high roller option for live dealer blackjack out there today.

The Best Casinos for Live Soiree Blackjack

When picking out a casino for playing this game, you have to think ahead a little. First, they obviously need to have Playtech’s live dealer offering. However, there’s a bit more to it than that because of the high betting limits involved at these tables.

We suggest talking to the support team initially to make sure they’ll be able to process your deposit and give you the attention that you need to have a good experience. Players who prefer high stakes games tend to get preferential treatment. However, sometimes these tables are blocked off to players who aren’t cleared to join them, so contacting support ahead of time can help to avoid any unnecessary delays.

Gameplay Procedure and Rules

The procedure for playing this game is pretty straightforward. It’s not particularly difficult to learn to play Live Soiree Blackjack. Additionally, there are rule cards that can be pulled into the interface from the sides. These are useful if you’d like to be reminded of something in the middle of a session.

Hand Play Procedure

Here we’re going to walk you through a generic example hand. We think this is the easiest way to make the gameplay procedure as clear as possible.

  1. You will place your bets in the time allotted before the cards are dealt.
  2. Cards are dealt from an eight-deck shoe. Two cards are dealt to each player face-down. The dealer has one card face-up and another face-down.
  3. The cards are worth their face value. Face cards are worth 10, and aces are worth 1 or 11 points at the player’s decision.
  4. Starting from the right and going to the left, players take turns playing out their hands.
  5. You have a number of betting options that do different things. We’ll get into the specifics of these options down below. Once your betting turn is over, it’s the next player’s turn.
  6. After all players have made their decisions, the dealer turns over his or her downward facing card. The dealer will continue adding new cards until a total of at least 17 is reached.
  7. Winners and losers are determined by the criteria laid out below, and a new betting period opens.

That’s all there is to it for the basic gameplay procedure. In what follows, we’ll look more at some of the details of the rules.

Determining Wins and Losses

The first thing to know is that if you go over 21 points during your play, then you automatically lose. Additionally, it doesn’t matter what happens to the dealer’s hand if you go bust in this way. You will always lose if you go bust no matter what.

If you don’t go bust, you can also win if the dealer goes bust. Again, this happens in situations where the dealer goes over 21. Note again that if both of you bust, the dealer still wins.

Otherwise, if neither of you bust, you win by having the higher total. In the event that you tie the dealer, which happens a little more often than you might think, then it’s a push.

All wins pay at even money. The exception to this is if you have an ace and a face card on your initial two cards. In that case, you’re paid out at a premium of 3:2.

Betting Options

Here’s where things get a little different in Live Soiree Blackjack. Some of the rules allow for players to double more than they’d be able to in other games. That’s why we want to break these rules down as much as we can.

  • Stand – When you stand, you end your turn and receive no more cards.
  • Hit – Hitting means you get an additional card, but it’s still your turn.
  • Split – With two cards of the same rank, you have the option to split. This pulls the cards apart to start two new hands. An additional wager is added for the second hand that’s worth the same value as the original. You can only split once per hand.
  • Double – To double in this game means you add another wager to your hand worth the original side. This effectively doubles the size of your bet. However, you also receive exactly one additional card. However, this option also ends your turn, so it has to be used carefully.

These four strategic options give players lots of room to try to play different hands in different ways to come out ahead against the dealer without going bust.

Side Bets

Two different side bets are made available at these tables. This helps to break things up a bit and to offer something fresh for players who are interested. Each of them also offer payouts that are larger than what you’ll find in traditional blackjack play. This added level of excitement is important for a lot of players.

Perfect Pairs Side Bet

The Perfect Pairs side bet is a pretty cool way to mix things up a bit. The idea is that your initial two cards are looked at to see if they form different types of pairs. If they do, then you’ll get paid out.

  • Perfect Pair (same suit) – 25:1
  • Colored Pair (same color, not same suit) – 12:1
  • Different Color Pair (not same color) – 6:1

This is probably the most popular of the two side bets in most cases.

21+3 Side Bet

The idea behind the 21+3 side bet here is that it’s based on three-card poker hands. The dealer’s up card is used along with your own two cards to form a three-card hand. You will then be paid out as follows for making different three-card poker hands:

  • Suited Three of a Kind – 100:1
  • Straight Flush – 40:1
  • Three of a Kind – 30:1
  • Straight – 10:1
  • Flush – 5:1

If you’re wondering why a flush pays less than a straight for this wager, it’s pretty straightforward. With three-card poker hands, it’s actually easier to make a flush than a straight. The hands are ordered based around which hands are the most difficult to get.

Dealer Decisions

Something that makes the Live Soiree Blackjack tables stand out is the ability to change the dealer. At first, there’s a 30-minute period where the dealer has to stay at the same table. From there, players can request to keep the same dealer or to get a new one.

The interface for this is shown in the top-left corner of the screen. We think that this is a really interesting idea that really helps to put players in a position to customize their experience.

How to Win at Live Soiree Blackjack

The player peeks for blackjack in this game, so you don’t have to worry about splitting or doubling too much. Since you can double with any two starting cards, you also get more flexibility with soft hands. This is the most favorable pairing available of these two respective rules. However, you still have to play according to basic strategy to get the most of it.

In general, most standardized multi-deck blackjack strategies will perform really well here. The one thing to look out for is that there is no surrender option in this game. Therefore, you’ll want to avoid strategies based around having a surrender option available.

Overview

We really love the look and feel of Live Soiree Blackjack. Playtech did a tremendous job building the atmosphere that comes with these tables. The rule sets are also very forgiving, and we like the available side bets as well. This is a really solid game with a focus on high stakes play, and it does that very well.
